Health & Wellness: A Journey Worth Sharing
For more than 25 years, I’ve been on a personal journey to achieve and sustain a healthy mind and body.
This blog series on Health & Wellness is my way of sharing what I’ve learned along the way — lessons, practices, and approaches that have helped me stay strong, lean, and energized well into my sixties and beyond. I hope these insights may help readers shape their own path toward better health.
My Story in Brief:
- Youthful metabolism (18–40): For over two decades, I could eat freely without worrying about weight gain. My body weight held steady at ~140 lbs and I maintained a body fat level of about ~15%.
- The turning point (40–42): After my 40th birthday, I began to notice dramatic changes. My weight climbed to ~160 lbs and body fat rose to ~17%. Aging had slowed my metabolism, and it became clear that I needed to take action.
- Commitment to change (42 onward): At 42, I set a clear goal: return to my pre‑40 body composition. Through consistent effort, I achieved it — and, more importantly, I have sustained it ever since.
- Today (age 67): I continue to maintain a body weight of ~138 lbs and body fat of ~15.5%. Aside from a minor cholesterol issue due to genetics, my overall health has been excellent. My doctor has remarked that he wishes all his patients had my level of health.
What Made the Difference?
I attribute my long‑term health and fitness success to four core pillars:
- The right mindset and resolve – Without a clear purpose and commitment to change, positive results either won’t happen or won’t last.
- Proper nutrition most of the time – Eating well doesn’t mean perfection, but it does mean consistency.
- Regular cycles of fitness training – Structured exercise routines, adjusted over time, have kept my body strong and resilient.
- Maintaining an inquisitive mind – Staying curious, continuously learning, and exercising the brain has been just as important as physical training.
What Readers Can Expect

Think of this series as a conversation — I’ll share what’s worked for me, and you can decide what fits your life. My goal is not to prescribe a one‑size‑fits‑all solution. I simply want to share what seems to be working for me.
